GPI’S KeelClip™ Wins Prestigious French Packaging Award

KeelClip™, the multi-award-winning paperboard beverage solution from Graphic Packaging International, continues to assert its dominance in Europe’s most prestigious awards programs, as winner of the Production – Secondary Mechanization category at the French Packaging Award.

To secure the top spot in the French packaging innovation awards, Graphic Packaging demonstrated how it met initial objectives with the technically innovative multi-pack beverage clip.

The KeelClip solution supports Coca-Cola’s drive to replace plastic rings and shrink film on canned beverage products in the European market, supporting the brand’s “Action on Packaging” strategy.

Steve Gould, new product development and marketing director at Graphic Packaging, said: “We’re delighted to be recognized by this prestigious French packaging innovation awards program, and it’s particularly pleasing that KeelClip has triumphed in the Production category. A huge amount of effort goes into creating innovations such as KeelClip, from ideation to production, and I’m extremely proud of the team members that helped bring this concept to life. Thank you to everyone involved.”

Unlike similar competitor products, KeelClip is the first beverage clip of its kind to work across all can heights, diameters and configurations. Can orientation has been factored into the overall design to deliver enhanced branding opportunities, while the central ‘keel’ offers up optimum stabilization for consumer convenience. Relevant to today’s market, the fully recyclable solution covers can tops, helping to allay consumer concerns over hygiene.

The French Packaging Awards is organized in France by Groupe Industrie Services Info (“GISI”) and highlights the industry’s best packaging innovations of the year. This year’s awards were presented in a digital ceremony and a full list of winners can be found here.
